A Brief Analysis Of The Causes Of Wheel Gnawing Phenomenon Of Portal Cranes

The gantry crane, as the mainstream equipment of modern loading and unloading equipment, plays a very important role in port loading and unloading operations. In the operation and use process of the gantry crane, the gnawing phenomenon of the walking wheel of the gantry crane is common. Generally speaking, there will be a 10 to 15 cm gap between the rim of the walking wheel of the gantry crane and the side of the track of the gantry crane on each side. Under normal operating conditions, there will generally be no contact. But often in actual operation, for some reasons, the wheels do not run along the centerline of the track, causing friction between the rim of the walking wheel and the side of the track. When the friction is severe, it causes the gnawing phenomenon.

The main reasons for the gnawing of the gantry crane are as follows:

1.The diameter of the driving wheel of the gantry crane varies.

2.The angle between the centerline of the tread of the wheel of the gantry crane and the centerline of the track on the horizontal plane exceeds the specified tolerance range. The main reason for this aspect is that the wheels of the gantry crane are not installed properly.

3.The wheel of the gantry crane is skewed in the vertical direction, causing the wheel of the gantry crane and the track to contact and cause gnawing.

4.The driving device of the gantry crane is out of sync, causing the gantry crane to run off and cause gnawing.

5. Reasons for the track. The installation of the track of the gantry crane has various technical installation requirements: such as the error of the track gauge, the track slope, the coplanarity of the four points of the track, the track joint, etc. If the above conditions are implemented, there may be deviations. Cause gnawing.
