The Use And Maintenance Of Wire Rope For Dock Port Cranes

The wear of the port crane wire rope is divided into the surface wear and the internal wear of the wire rope. The surface wear of the wire rope is caused by the friction between the wire rope and the port crane pulley, while the internal wear of the wire rope is caused by the friction between the wire rope strands. Therefore, in order to extend the service life of the wire rope, we can start from reducing the wear degree of the wire rope. 1. From the perspective of the surface wear of the wire rope, we can choose pulleys with anti-wear effects, such as nylon pulleys, which can reduce the friction between the wire rope and the port crane pulley, thereby reducing the wear of the wire rope; 2. From the perspective of the internal wear of the wire rope, we can strengthen the lubrication of the wire rope. However, considering that the wire rope needs to be used in the open air, the effect of sunlight will cause the lubricating oil to oxidize and deteriorate, which will affect the lubrication effect of the lubricating oil. And the wire rope with poor lubrication effect will accelerate the wear degree of the wire rope. Therefore, improving the lubrication effect of the wire rope lubricating oil is the key factor to extend the service life of the wire rope.        

As we all know, the reverse winding of the wire rope has a very fatal impact on the service life of the wire rope. Therefore, in order to extend the service life of the wire rope, we need not only to use and maintain the wire rope correctly, but also to consider the structural form of the lifting machinery on the service life of the wire rope.
